Description of key information

The effective concentration (EC50) value of 5-nitrosalicylic acid in aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia Magna) in a 48 hr study on the basis of immobilization effect was estimated to be 244.4349 mg/L.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50/LC50 for freshwater invertebrates:
244.435 mg/L

Additional information

The effective concentration (EC50) value of 5-nitrosalicylic acid in aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia Magna) in a 48 hr study on the basis of immobilization effect was estimated to be 244.4349 mg/L. Thus considering the value from CLP Criteria for aquatic classification of the substance, it is concluded that 5-nitrosalicylic acid does not exhibits short term toxicity to aquatic invertebrate (Daphnia Magna).
