Description of key information

A Klimisch 1 rated algal toxicity test was conducted in 2014. The effect concentrations on algal growth caused by undecylenic acid were: ErC50r = 0.24 mg/L and ErC10 = 0.21 mg/L.

Additional information

The effects of undecylenic acid to algae were determined in a laboratory test according to OECD Guideline 201. The freshwater green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata was exposed for 72-hours to a series of test concentrations. The initially measured concentrations were close to nominal from D0 to D2. However, undecylenic acid was not detectable (< LOD of 0.00072 mg/L) at D3 in any treatment, except the highest concentration tested. At the end of the test, specific growth rate of algae was affected. Based on the time weighted geometric mean measured concentrations, the 72-h ErC50 was 0.24 mg/L and the 72-h ErC10 was 0.21 mg/L.
