Additional information

A study was conducted (BASF AG SIK-No. 84/1036) according to DIN 53213. The flash point of 2-Methylbutan-2-ol was determined to be 20.5 °C at 1013 hPa.

In addition two reliable authoritative secondary sources (Ullmann's and GESTIS) reported the flash point of 2-Methylbutan-2-ol as result from experimental studies to be 21 °C and 19 °C..

All values ar e in the same range.The value from the study was chosen as key value.

The following classification criteria are met:

R11 (highly flammable) of EU Directive 67/548/EEC: flash point <= 21 °C and initial boiling point > 35 °C;

Flammable liquids, Category 2 (highly flammable liquids and vapour) of EU CLP: flash point <= 23 °C and initial boiling point > 35 °C
