5.3 Special exposure hazards arising from the substance or preparation itself, combustion products, resulting gases: Nitrogen oxides (NOx), Carbon monoxide, Carbon dioxide (CO2)

5.4 Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:

5.5 Additional information: 1,3-Benzenediol, 2,4,6-trinitro-, calcium potassium salt is explosive.

Accidental release measures

6.1 Personal precautions: Avoid generation of dust. Remove all sources of ignition. Wear breathing apparatus if exposed to vapours / dusts / aerosols. Remove persons to safety.

6.2 Environmental precautions: Do not allow to enter into soil/subsoil. Do not allow to enter into surface water or drains. Retain contaminated washing water and dispose it.

6.3 Methods for cleaning up: Do not dry up the product.

6.3.1 Suitable material for diluting or neutralizing: Dilute aequous caustic soda

6.3.2 Unsuitable material for diluting or neutralizing: Flammable and oxidizing agents.

6.3.3 Suitable material for taking up: Phlegmatizing agents, e.g. water (with basic cleaning agent)

6.3.4 Unsuitable material for taking up:

Handling and storage

7.1 Handling:

7.1.1 Advices on safe handling: It is recommended to design all work processes always so that the following is excluded:

Inhalation of dust/particles, skin contact, eye contact.

Workingplaces should be designed to allow cleaning at any time. Floors, walls and other surfaces in the hazard area must be cleaned regularly.

Only use the material in places where open light, fire and other flammable sources can be kept away. Wear personal protective clothing (see chapter 8). The danger areas must be delimited and identified using relevant warning and safety signs. Floors should be impervious, resistant to liquids and easy to clean.

7.1.2 Precautions against fire and explosion:

The product is: explosive.

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking. Increased risk of explosion in case of drying up. Handle with care - avoid bumps, friction and impact. Take precautionary measures against static discharges. Use only antistatically equipped (spark-free) tools.

7.1.3 Measures to prevent aerosol and dust generation:

By use of material provide adequate ventilation as well as local exhaustion with downstream wet scrubber at critical locations.

7.1.4 Advices and general occupational hygiene

When using do not eat, drink, smoke, sniff. Remove contaminated, saturated clothing immediately. Wash hands before breaks and after work.

7.2 Storage:

7.2.1 Storage conditions:

Keep/store only in original container. Store in a place accessible by authorized persons only.

7.2.2 Advice on joint storage:

Storage class:  Explosive substances

Storage group: 1.1

Compatibility group: A

Substances to avoid:

Do not store together with: A joint storage is only allowed with explosive substances of compatibility group A.

Recommended storage temperature: 20 °C

Relative air humidity (%): > 65

Storage conditions: Keep wetted.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Preventive industrial medical examinations are to be offered.

8.1 Exposure limit values

8.1.1 Components with occupational exposure limits rsp. biological occupational exposure limits requiring monitoring

8.1.1.1 Occupational exposure limits

Limit value type (country of origin): AGW (DE), Substance name: General dust limit value, Occupational exposure limit value: 1,25 mg/m³ (A), 10 mg/m³ (E), Peak limitation: 2(II), Source: TRGS 900, Remark: A: alveolar fraction, E: respirable fraction

8.1.1.2 Biological occupational exposure limit values

Limit value type (country of origin): no data available

DNEL/DMEL: Has to be done during the Chemical Safety Assessment

PNEC: Has to be done during the Chemical Safety Assessment.

8.2 Exposure controls

8.2.1 Technical measures to prevent exposure

See section 7. No additional measures necessary.

8.2.2 Personal protection equipment

8.2.2.1 Respiratory protection

No personal respiratory protective equipment normally required. Respiratory protection necessary at: exposure limit overshoot. Suitable respiratory protection apparatus: Filtering Half-face mask (DIN EN 149). Half-face mask or quarter facepiece: maximum use concentration for substances with exposure limits: P1 filter: up to a max. of 4 times the exposure limit. P2 filter: up to a max. of 10 times the exposure limit. P3 filter: up to a max. of 30 times the exposure limit. Observe the wear time limits according GefStoffV in combination with the rules for using respiratory protection apparatus (DGUV-R 112-190).

8.2.2.2 Hand protection

Suitable gloves type: Disposable gloves, Gloves with long cuffs, Suitable material: NBR (nitrile rubber), Required properties: Antistatic, Dust-tight, Thickness of the glove material: >0,12 mm, Wear duration: > 480 min, DIN-/EN-Norms: DIN EN 374.

8.2.2.3 Eye protection

In case of warming: Danger of explosion

In case of impact or pressure influence: Danger of explosion

Reaction takes place at temperatures above: 345 °C

10.2 Materials to avoid:

Reaction with: Acid

10.3 Hazardous decomposition products:

Thermal decomposition can lead to the escape of irritating gases and vapours.

Decomposition under formation of: Carbon monoxid, carbon dioxid, nitrogen oxides (NOx).

Disposal considerations
