Description of key information

A study in accordance with OECD Guideline 203 and GLP was performed to assess the acute toxicity of the substance to carp under semi-static conditions. The 96h-LC50 was calculated based on mean measured concentrations to be 0.10 mg/L. The study was concluded to be reliable with restrictions.

A study was performed to assess the acute toxicity of the substance to carp (Cyprinus carpio) under semi-static conditions. The study was conducted in accordance with OECD Guideline for Testing of Chemicals No. 203 and GLP.

Groups of 7 fish were exposed for 96 hours to five concentrations of the substance prepared as dilutions of a saturated solution prepared at a loading rate of 100 mg/L and a control. Dead or severely distressed fish were recorded for each test and control group each day during the test. The measured concentrations decreased to 63 - 85% of initial at the end of each refreshment interval (24h). Average exposure concentrations were calculated as0.089, 0.17, 0.41, 1.0 and 2.0 mg/Lfor the 0.46, 1.0, 2.2, 4.6 and 10% dilutions of the saturated solution, respectively. The 96h-LC50 was calculated based on mean measured concentrations to be 0.10 mg/L. The study was conducted without deviations that influence the quality of the results. However, since the analytical method used did not meet all validation criteria, the resulting measured concentrations of the test item in the test medium can only be taken as indicative. The study is concluded to be reliable with restrictions as the order of magnitude of the measured concentrations is considered to be trustworthy.
