Endpoint:
relative self-ignition temperature (solids)
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
16 to 17 July 2015
Reliability:
1 (reliable without restriction)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
guideline study
Qualifier:
according to guideline
Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Hess, Ministerium für Umwelt, Energie, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz, Wiesbaden, Germany
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 401 °C

4.04 g of the test item were filled into the stainless steel wire mesh cube and placed in the oven at 24 °C. The test item showed no endothermic or exothermic effect up to the final test temperature of 401 °C. No self-ignition temperature was observed. After the test the mesh wire basket was nearly empty.

Guideline:
EU Method A.16 (Relative Self-Ignition Temperature for Solids)
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Remarks:
Hess, Ministerium für Umwelt, Energie, Landwirtschaft und Verbraucherschutz, Wiesbaden, Germany
Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
> 401 °C

4.02 g of the test item were filled into the stainless steel wire mesh cube and placed in the oven at 21 °C. The test item showed an endothermic effect in the temperature range of 200-225 °C.

No further endothermic or exothermic effects were observed up to the final test temperature of 401 °C. After the test the wire mesh cube was empty. No self-ignition temperature was observed.

Description of key information

No self-ignition temperature was observed up to the maximum test temperature of 401 °C.

(EU Method A.16)
