First-aid measures

> Description of first aid measures
- Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. Call a doctor/physician if you feel unwell.
- Skin: Call a doctor/physician if you feel unwell. Wash with water and soap. If skin irritation or rash occurs, get medical advice/attention.
- Eye: If eye irritation persists, get medical attention/advice. Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes.
- Ingestion: Rinse mouth. Call a doctor/physician if you feel unwell.

> Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed: None known.

> Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed: Treat symptoms as they occur.

Fire-fighting measures

> Extinguishing media
- Suitable: Powder extinguisher, carbon dioxide gas, foam extinguisher.
- Unsuitable: Straight spray water.

> Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture
Irritant, corrosive and/or toxic gas may be generated by fire.
Container may explode if heated or if water gets into container.
Flammable material: the product is flammable, but not easily combustible.

> Advice for firefighters
Move container away from fire if safe to do.
Fight fire from the most distant place within the effective range using unmanned hoses or monitored nozzles.
Do not get water into container.
The flash point of this product is extremely low. Sprinkle water, if any fire-fighting measures are unlikely to be effective in large fire.
Wear air-respirator and chemical protective clothing when engaged in fire-fighting.

> Further information
Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

Accidental release measures

> Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Immediately enclose the area as the leakage area, with appropriate distance in all directions from the leakage location. Do not allow non-authorised personnel to access near the fire. Stay upwind. Ventilate tightly closed place before entering. Wear appropriate protective equipment to prevent contact with eye, skin or inhalation. Keep out of low areas. Do not touch broken container or leaked substance without wearing appropriate protective clothing. Remove all fire sources promptly. (Prohibit smoking, sparks and open flames in surrounding areas.) Avoid inflow to drainage/sewage ditches or the basement and other closed places. Do not get water into container. Cover with plastic sheet to prevent spreading of spill.

> Environmental precautions
Avoid release to the environment. Avoid environmental impacts caused by releasing the product to rivers, etc.

> Methods and material for containment and cleaning up
Ground all equipment used to handle the leaked substance. Stop leak if safe to do so. Use dry soil, sand or other non-flammable materials to absorb or cover the leaked substance, and collect them in container.

Handling and storage

> Precautions for safe handling
Keep away from fire. Wash the hands thoroughly after handling. Avoid ingestion. Avoid contact with skin. Avoid breathing gas. Avoid breathing mist, vapours, spray.

> Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities
Apply exposure controls and wear protective equipment.
Use non-combustible material for roofs of the storage room. Cover the roof with sheet metal plates or other light non-combustible materials. Do not make ceilings.
For floors of the storage room, apply a structure that prevents infiltration of hazardous substances, and make appropriate slopes and cesspools.
In the store room, install the daylighting, lighting, and ventilating equipment needed for storing or handling hazardous substances.
Store away from oxidizers.
Store away from flame and hot surfaces.
Store in a cool well-ventilated place.

Exposure controls / personal protection

> Exposure controls
- Engineering controls: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice. Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.

> Personal protective equipment
- Eye/face protection: Face shield and safety glasses Use equipment for eye protection tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or EN 166(EU).
- Skin protection: Handle with gloves. Gloves must be inspected prior to use. Use proper glove removal technique (without touching glove's outer surface) to avoid skin contact with this product. Dispose of contaminated gloves after use in accordance with applicable laws and good laboratory practices. Wash and dry hands.
The selected protective gloves have to satisfy the specifications of EU Directive 89/686/EEC and the standard EN 374 derived from it.
- Body Protection: Wear impervious, flame retardant, antistatic, protective clothing. The type of protective equipment must be selected according to the concentration and amount of the dangerous substance at the specific workplace.
- Respiratory protection: Where risk assessment shows air-purifying respirators are appropriate use a full-face respirator with multi-purpose combination (US) or type ABEK (EN 14387) respirator cartridges as a backup to engineering controls. If the respirator is the sole means of protection, use a full-face supplied air respirator. Use respirators and components tested and approved under appropriate government standards such as NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).

> Environmental exposure controls
Avoid release to the environment. Avoid environmental impacts caused by releasing the product to rivers, etc.

Stability and reactivity

- Reactivity: Reacts with amines and alcohol. Reacts with other nucleophilic substance under acidic and basic conditions.

- Chemical stability: Stable when stored at room temperature protected from light.

- Possibility of hazardous reactions: Generation of alcohol derivative due to hydrolysis.

- Conditions to avoid: Heat source, contact with high temperature material and open flame.

- Incompatible materials: Amines, alcohols, acids, alkalis, strong oxidisers, reducers.

- Hazardous decomposition products: Alcohol derivative, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide.

Disposal considerations

> Waste treatment methods
Dispose of waste and residues in accordance with local authority requirements.
Follow all chemical pollution control regulations.
Disposal must be in accordance with current national and local regulations. Chemical residues generally count as special waste. General EU requirements are given in Directive 2008/98/EC.
