Description of key information

Test substance is an orange-colored powder with a reddish-brown appearance in concentrated form. A melting and boiling point of FAT 40854/A was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started >175°C. Based on this, the test substance has no melting or boiling temperature. The relative density of FAT 40854/A was 1.50 g/cm³The particle size distribution was MMAD= 39.160 µm; 4.13 % is <10.00 µm; 10 % is <14.360 µm;  50 % is <31.974 µm and 90 % is <59.573 µm. The vapour pressure of test substance at 20 °C is <1.5x10-3 Pa and <5.8x10-3 Pa at 25 °C, respectively. The Pow value of the test substance at neutral pH and 20 °C was <1.4 x 10-2. It corresponds with a log Pow value of <-1.8. The water solubility of test substance at 20 °C and pH 5.9 is500 g/L. The surface tension of test substance is 73 mN/m. FAT 40854/A is self-ignitable at 314 °C. The test substance is considered ‘not highly flammable’. The substance has no explosive and oxidizing properties. No accurate pKa value of the test substance could be determined for dissociation constant.
