Administrative data
First-aid measures
Description of first aid measures:
Inhalation: Move into fresh air and keep at rest. For breathing difficulties, oxygen may be necessary. Get medical attention. If breathing stops, pro vide artificial respiration.
Eye contact: Immediately flush with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If easy to do, remove contact lenses. Get medical attention.
Skin contact: Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water. Get medical attention if irritation persists after washing. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash contaminated clothing before reuse. Destroy or thoroughly clean contaminated shoes.
Ingestion: Do not induce vomiting unless directed to do so by medical personnel. Never give liquid to an unconscious person. Get medical attenti on.
Note to Physician: Treat supportively and symptomatically. Test substance contains up to 10% heptane. Heptane is an aspiration hazard. Aspiration into the lungs can cause chemical pneumonitis which can be fatal. Do not induce vomiting.
Fire-fighting measures
General fire hazards: Self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing must be worn in case of fire.
Extinguishing media:
Suitable extingishing media: Use water spray (fog), foam, dry chemical, or CO2. Sand or earth may be used for small fires only.
Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture: Emits toxic fumes under fire conditions.
Advice for firefighters:
Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Substance is a flammable liquid and contains up to 10% heptane.
Special protective equipment for fire-fighters:Prevent runoff from fire control or dilution from entering streams, sewers, or drinking water supply.
Accidental release measures
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures: Use personal protective equipment. Immediately contact emergency perso nnel. Keep unnecessary personnel away. Follow all fire fighting procedures.
Environmental precautions: Do not release into the environment.
Methods and material for containment and cleaning up: Absorb small spills on vermiculite or other suitable absorbing material and place in a sealed container for disposal. Dike large spills and use a non-sparking or explosion proof means to transfer material to an appropriate container for disposal. Do not
allow liquid run-off to enter surface water drains.
Handling and storage
Precautions for safe handling: Test substance is isolated only as a 25% solution in heptane and therefore handling should be based on potential contact with 25% bis tes and 75% heptane. Avoid contact with skin and eyes. Do not ingest. Refrain from smoking or eating when handling. Wash thoroughly after use. If exposure is likely wear protective equipment to minimiz skin contact. Avoid inhalation of product vapours and aerosols.
When working in enclosed areas, ensure sufficient ventilation and extraction.
Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities: Store in a closed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated location away from incompatible substances. Protect from heat, sparks, flames, or other sources of ignition. Keep container closed when not in use.

Exposure controls / personal protection
Occupational exposure limits: Tes Substance does not have assigned exposure limits.
Exposure controls: Essentially no open handling. Local exhaust ventilation or use of a ventilated enclosure (e.g., fume hood) is required. Containment technologies suitable for controlling compounds are required to control at source and to prevent migration of the compound to uncontrolled areas (e.g., open-face containment devices).
Eye/face protection: Wear safety glasses with side shields (or goggles). If the work environment or activity involves mists or aerosols, wear the appropriate goggles. Wear a faceshield or other full face protection if there is a potential for direct contact to the face with mists, or aerosols.
Skin protection: Hand protection: Chemical resistant gloves. PVC, neoprene or nitrile rubber gloves are recommended. Additional body garments should be used based upon the task being performed (e.g., sleevelets, apron, gauntlets, disposable suits) to avoid exposed skin surfaces. Use appropriate degowning techniques to remove potentially contaminated clothing.
Respiratory Protection: When handling a compound in solution, a cartridge/canister appropriate for the solution may also be needed (considered heptane impurity). - Use approved organic vapor cartridge respirator where the potential exists for direct exposure.
Use a positive pressure, air-supplied, pressure demand tight fitting respirator (e.g., SCBA or airline equipped with emergency escape bottle) where there is a potential for uncontrolled releases in excess of the respirator's capabilities, where exposure levels are unknown or where air-purifying respirators may not provide adequate protection.
Hygiene measures: Wash skin thoroughly with soap and water.

Disposal considerations
Waste treatment methods:
General information: Incineration is the most effective method of disposal in most instances. Do not allow runoff to sewer, waterway or ground. Operations that involve the crushing or shredding of waste materials or returned goods should take into account recommended exposure limits where they exist.
Disposal Methods: Disposal must be in accordance with applicable national, state/provincial, and/or local regulations.
