Administrative data

Endpoint:
flash point of flammable liquids
Type of information:
calculation (if not (Q)SAR)
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
2018
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Justification for type of information:
Based on the low estimated vapour pressure of [(3-Oxo-butyryl)-phenyl-amino]-acetic acid ethyl ester, the flash point of the pure substance is expected to be high. The composition of the material as it is produced and handled includes up to 6% Butanoic acid, 3-oxo-, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester (TBAA). Based on estimations of vapour pressure and calculations of partial pressures, the flash point of the material is calculated from the flash point of the TBAA impurity.

Applicant's summary and conclusion

Conclusions:
The flash point of [(3-Oxo-butyryl)-phenyl-amino]-acetic acid ethyl ester can be stated to be greater than or equal to 66ºC.
Executive summary:

Based on the low estimated vapour pressure of [(3-Oxo-butyryl)-phenyl-amino]-acetic acid ethyl ester, the flash point of the pure substance is expected to be high. The composition of the material as it is produced and handled includes up to 6% Butanoic acid, 3-oxo-, 1,1-dimethylethyl ester (TBAA). Based on estimations of vapour pressure and calculations of partial pressures, the flash point of the material is calculated from the flash point of the TBAA impurity.

The flash point of TBAA is 66ºC (as stated in the REACH dossier 1694-31-1), thererfore the flash point of [(3-Oxo-butyryl)-phenyl-amino]-acetic acid ethyl ester can be stated to be greater than or equal to 66ºC.
