The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced in appropriate low concentrations.

The toxicity of ´2 -Propyn-1 -ol, compound with methyloxirane´ on microorganisms was tested in a guideline study according to DIN 38412, part 8 (Pseudomonas Zellvermehrungshemm-Test) with Pseudomonas putida [BASF AG, 1990]. After 17 hours of incubation the EC50 was above 10000 mg/L based on nominal concentrations (EC10 = 6500 mg/L). No inhibiting effect on the growth of the bacteria was measured.
