Guidance on Safe Use
Administrative data
First-aid measures
Eye Contact:
Remove any contact lenses.
Immediately flush eye with water thoroughly and continuously for at least 15 minutes.
Keep eye wide open while rinsing. Protect the unharmed eye (if applicable).
If there are signs of irritation or other symptoms seek medical attention.
Skin Contact:
Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Wash skin with plenty of soap and water.
If skin irritation or rash is occurs, seek medical attention.
Wash contaminated clothing before reuse.
Ensure all traces of the substance have been removed from other items eg boots.
Dispose of any items that cannot be sufficiently cleaned to prevent re-exposure.
Inhalation:
Move to fresh air. If removing a casualty, ensure one's own safety whilst doing so. Seek medical advice.
Ingestion:
Wash out your own mouth with water. Do not wash out the mouth of an unconscious person.
Do not induce vomiting.
Seek medical advice.
First-Aider (self protection):
Protect yourself and any casualty from further exposure.
It is important that anyone helping or attempting to rescue an affected person wear the appropriate respiratory protection and protective clothing.
Take off all contaminated clothing and shoes and clean before reuse.
Seek medical assistance - show the safety data sheet or label if possible.
Fire-fighting measures
Suitable Extinguishing Media:
The substance itself is not flammable, therefore extinguishing media relating to the fire source and fire size should be considered.
Use water spray, water fog, fire fighting foam, dry powder extinguisher, carbon dioxide (CO2) extinguisher or dry sand.
Unsuitable Extinguishing Media: Direct water jet.
Simultaneous use of foam and water on the same surface is to be avoided as water destroys the foam.
Specific Hazards during Fire-fighting:
If the substance is involved in a fire it may emit noxious or toxic fumes.
Collect contaminated fire extinguishing water separately. This must not be discharged into drains.
Fire residues and contaminated fire extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with local regulations.
Special Protective Equipment for Fire-fighters:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus in addition to standard fire fighting gear.
Accidental release measures
Personal Precautions:
Wear suitable personal protective equipment including respiratory protection during removal of spillages.
Do not breathe or create dust.
If outside do not approach from downwind. Keep bystanders upwind and away from the danger point.
Mark out the contaminated area with signs to prevent access to unauthorised personnel.
Environmental Precautions:
Do not discharge into drains or rivers. Contain the spillage using bunding.
Local authorities should be advised if significant spillages cannot be contained.
Note that the substance has a low water solubility (3.2mg/l), it is very toxic to aquatic life and may cause long-term adverse effects in the aquatic environment.
Methods for Clean Up:
Protect against dust formation. Use dry sand, earth or vermiculite if required to minimise formation of dust.
Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
Transfer substance to a closable, labelled salvage container then dispose according to local / national regulations.
Handling and storage
Precautions for Safe Handling:
Ensure handling is restricted to authorised persons.
Provide activity specific training to operators to minimise exposure risk.
Do not eat, drink or smoke when using this product.
Use only in well ventilated areas. Do not handlie in a confined space.
Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
Avoid direct contact with the substance.
Avoid the formation or spread of dust in the air.
Wash skin/hands thoroughly after use.
Do not allow contaminated clothing out of the work place.
Wash/clean contaminated clothing and boots before re-use.
Conditions for Safe Storage:
Store in a cool, well ventilated area.
Keep containers tighly closed.
Keep away from oxidising agents.
Avoid exposure to heat or ignition sources.
Suitable storage containers: Packaged into polyethylene bags stored inside drums.

Exposure controls / personal protection
1. Technical Protection Measures
Ensure there is sufficient ventilation in the area.
Do not discharge directly in waterways.
Dispose of waste product or used containers according to local regulations.
Ensure all waste water is collected and treated via a waste water treatment plant within the parameters of any local requirements / regulations
2. Organisational Protection Measures
Only properly trained and authorised personnel shall handle the substance.
Substance handling procedures should be well documented and supervised.
Assumes a good basic standard of occupational hygiene is implemented.
Regular cleaning of equipment and floors.
Procedures for process control and maintenance.
3. Hand Protection
Wear suitable protective gloves for the operation being carried out.
The applicable European Standard is EN 374.
Glove breakthrough times can vary depending on the characteristic of the type of glove used, the exposure time and type of use. Consult your supplier for advice.
Gloves should be replaced immediately if signs of degradation are observed.
4. Feet Protection
Wear safety shoes / boots. The applicable European Standard for safety footwear is EN ISO 20345.
5. Body Protection
Wear protective clothing, for example overalls with long sleeves.
Ensure there is a safety shower available.
6. Eye Protection
Wear safety glasses with side shields. The applicable European Standard is EN 166.
Ensure there is an eye bath to hand.
7. Respiratory Protection
Wear a suitable respiratory protective device with a particle filter.
The requirement for a respiratory protective device will depend on the quantity of substance handled and the operation. Carry out a risk assessment.
Where respiratory protective equipment is required, ensure that a complete program is implemented including selection, fit testing, training, maintenance and inspection.
Stability and reactivity
The substance is stable under recommended transport or storage conditions.
It is stable under normal conditions at room temperature.
Conditions to avoid: Hot surfaces, sources of ignition or flames.
Materials to avoid: Oxidising agents.
In combustion emits toxic fumes.
Disposal considerations
Transfer the substance to a suitable container and arrange for collection by specialised disposal company.
The user's attention is drawn to the possible existence of regional or national regulations regarding disposal of the substance or used packaging.
Do not discharge aqueous waste directly into waterways.
Ensure all waste water is collected and treated via a waste water treatment plant within the parameters of any local requirements / regulations.
