Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

(2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl) phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate and its metabolites 5-(2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy)-2-nitrobenzoyl-lactic acid, 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoic acid and 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-aminobenzoic acid do not have the potential to bioaccumulate in soil or any rotational crop.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

Bioaccumulation studies performed in rotational crops with (2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl) phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate establish

·       There are no detectable residues (< 0.05 ppm) of 14C-(2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate and its metabolites e.g. 5-(2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy)-2-nitrobenzoyl-lactic acid, 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]- 2-nitrobenzoic acid and 5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenoxy]-2-aminobenzoic acid in rotational crops.

·       There is virtually no uptake of (2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl) phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate and its metabolites from soil.

·       There are no residues of (2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl) phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate and its potential metabolites in lettuce, radish, turnip and wheat collected at 232 to 452 days after treatment of soil.

·       There are no residues of (2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl) phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate and its potential metabolites in plant-back situations in lettuce, radish and wheat.

These studies establish that (2-Ethoxy-1-methyl-2-oxoethyl)-5-[2-chloro-4-(trifluoromethyl) phenoxy]-2-nitrobenzoate and its metabolites do not have the potential to bioaccumulate in soil or any rotational crop. This conclusion is supported by results from several sites in the USA.
