Key result
Relative self-ignition temperature:
>= 390 - <= 420 °C
Remarks on result:
no self-ignition observed up to the melting point

In the investigation of self-ignition in the Grewer Oven the pure test item showed two small endothermic effects in the temperature ranges of 270 - 280 °C and 350 - 360 °C. An exothermic effect was detected starting at a temperature of 390 °C, which led to a maximum temperature of approx. 420 °C (10 K above the corresponding temperature of the reference material). After the test a grey residue was left inside the wire basket.

Conclusions:
The pure test item TA-1 indicated a self-heating at atmospheric pressure starting at a temperature of 390 °C that led to a maximum temperature of 420 °C.
According to this result of the tests on the self-ignition in the Grewer Oven the test item is classified as follows:
UN Transport Regulation: The test item is not classified as self-heating substance in class 4, division 4.2 according to the UN Transport Regulation.
GHS I CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.11: The test item is not classified as self-heating substance according to GHS/CLP Regulation EC 1272/2008 Annex 1: 2.11, respectively.
