First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: In case of excessive inhalation, remove the person to fresh
air. Obtain medical advice immediatley.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately rinse eyes with plenty of water. If any sign of
tissue damage or persistent irritation obtain medical advice
.
Emergency measure - Skin: Remove contaminated clothing. Wash off skin immediately with
plenty of water, using soap if available. If any sign of
tissue damage or persistant irritation, obtain medical advic
e.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse mouth out with water. Obtain medical advice immediatel
y.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: CO2, foam, dry chemical.

Product arising from burning: Oxides of carbon & nitrogen

Product determined by test: N

Protective equipment: None

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Remove all sources of ignition. Provide proper ventilation.
Absorb the material on a porous, inert material such as
earth, sand or vermiculite. Dispose of in accordance with
local regulations.

Large liquid spillages should be contained by use of sand or
another inert material. The spillage should be transferred
to a suitable container and recovered or disposed of in
accordance with local regulations.

Handling and storage

Handling: Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety
practices in well ventilated areas. Avoid contact with skin
and eyes. Depending on working conditions this may include
the wearing of eye protection and protective clothing such
as PVC gloves, suitable overalls and dust masks.

Storage: Store indoors at a constant temperature, if possibl,
preferably around 15 deg C in dry, well ventilated condition
in full, sealed, opaque containers. Keep away from sources
of ignition.

Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Drums or 1 tonne reusable steel containers.

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Zinarine ia an aromachemical which will be blended with a
number of other such materials in varying combinations to
provide a wide range of fragrances. Once blended it will be
impossible to recover Zinarine from the fragrance blend.

Spillages of Zinarine could be recivered by distillation
once suitable recovery techniques have been identified.

Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Zinarine is classified as being a skin sensitiser and a
moderate skin and eye irritant. Appropriate PPE should be
used to avoid dermal contact with neat substance.

Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable

Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Zinarine should be disposed of by incineration. No special
techniques are required, since no hazardous combustion
products are expected.

Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable

Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Not applicable

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Once Zinarine has been incorporated into fragrances used in
consumer products, there is little possibility of recovery.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Zinarine will be used at a maximum of 0.5% in a fragrance,
it will be present 0.5% or less in consumer products. It
should be used in such a way tat its potential to cause harm
to the public is eliminated.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Consumer products should only contain low levels of
Zinarine, and should therefore be suitable for disposal by
landfill.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Depending on the nature of the consumer product,
incineration is the recommended method of disposal for
Zinarine.
