Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

EC50 (72h) growth rate > 1.9 mg/l

NOEC growth rate = 1.1 mg/l

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for freshwater algae:
1.9 mg/L
EC10 or NOEC for freshwater algae:
1.1 mg/L

Additional information

The potential of the test substance to induce toxicity to aquatic algae and cyanobacteria was investigated on the analogous substance 5-amino-2,4,6-triiodo-1,3-benzenedicarbonyldichloride, with the green alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata according to EU Method C.3.

20 % of the initial concentration was loss during the test.

The two substances have in common the same hydrolysis components, therefore in the aquatic compartment the toxicological behaviour is due to the same substances and the effect found with the analogous substance are representative of the behaviour of the target substance and this read across is justified.

The EC50 value for inhibition of growth rate and biomass after 72 hours was > 1.9 mg/l.The NOEC for inhibition of growth rate and biomass was ca. 1.1 mg/l and c.a 1.9 mg/l, respectively.
