Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Additional information

Acid Brown 355 (ABr355) is a brown organic powder at 1013 hPa and 20 °C.

Between 25-130 °C release of water/solvent imbibition was observed. The DSC analysis showed only minor endothermic transition between 135-154 °C (onset at 139 °C, enthalpy = -4 J/g), followed by decomposition of the product between 323 -410 °C (onset at 354.6 °C, enthalpy = 257.1 J/g). Therefore both melting and boiling points were not recorded (REACH&Colours Kft, 2013).

The particle size distribution of the ABr355 was analyzed using the Mastersizer 2000 tool and the d(0.5) resulted 41.579 µm (REACH&Colours Kft, 2012).

ABr355 is very soluble in water (302.89 g/l at 20 °C) and Pow was calculated as 0.04681 (average log Pow: -1.3590), showing a greater affinity with the water phase, than the octanol phase.

The relative density of the substance, analyzed by means of pycnometer method, is 1.559 at 20 °C (REACH&Colours Kft, 2012).

Since it is a solid, properties like vapour pressure, surface tension and flash point can be disregarded.

ABr355 is not expected to be auto-flammable, flammable; the substance does not meet the criteria to be considered as explosive and it is deemed to be potentially not oxidising based on the chemical structure, the oxygen balance values and the known experience in the handling and use of substances.
