Description of key information

Oxooil LS9 is not phytotoxic to terrestrail plants (oats, rape and soyabean).
EC50 (21-days) is > 1000 mg/kg soil dw. (OECD 208).

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Short-term EC50 or LC50 for terrestrial plants:
1 000 mg/kg soil dw

Additional information

The phytotoxicity of Oxooil LS9 to three terrestrial plant species was determined in a GLP seedling emergence test over a period of 21 days (OECD 208). One monocotyledon, Oats (Gramineae), and two dicotyledons, rape (Brassicaceae) and soyabean (Leguminosae), were employed. For oats, the test was conducted with the nominal concentrations of 6.25, 125, 250, 500 and 1000 mg/kg soil dw.. For rape and soyabean the test was conducted with the nominal concentration of 1000 mg/kg soil dw. The test substance was incorporated into the soil in which the seeds were subsequently sown. The test containers were bottom watered with nutrient solution as required. The effects of the test substance were determined on days 7, 14 and 21 by visual observation (number of emerged seedlings and phytotoxic effects) and on day 21 by shoot height and shoot fresh weight determination. No effects > 25 % were observed on the shoot height and the emergence of all tested plant species. After 21 days there was no phytotoxic effect for all treated plant species. The EC50 for phytotoxicity to terrestrial plants is >1000 mg/kg soil dw..
