Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Reference
Endpoint:
partition coefficient
Type of information:
experimental study
Adequacy of study:
key study
Study period:
23 October 2015 - 03 December 2015
Reliability:
2 (reliable with restrictions)
Rationale for reliability incl. deficiencies:
study well documented, meets generally accepted scientific principles, acceptable for assessment
Reason / purpose for cross-reference:
reference to other study
Qualifier:
no guideline followed
Principles of method if other than guideline:
The test item is not stable in aqueous solution. Therefore the determination of the log Pow according to OECD 107 (shake flask method) and OECD 117 (HPLC method) is not feasible. The log Pow was estimated using the single solubilities in n-octanol and water.
GLP compliance:
yes (incl. QA statement)
Type of method:
estimation method (solubility ratio)
Partition coefficient type:
octanol-water
Analytical method:
titration method
Key result
Type:
Pow
Partition coefficient:
> 0 - < 0
Temp.:
23 °C
Remarks on result:
other: pH net determined
Details on results:
The test item is miscible with water at room temperature (T = 23 °C) and at T = 20 °C (± 0.5 °C) in a concentration range of >= 20 g/100 g and <= 30 g/100 g (BASF, GLP-study No. 15L00378 / study report under the endpint "water solubility").
Solubility of the test item in n-octanol is 77 mg/L ± 2 mg/L (BASF, GLP-study No. 15L00379)
Conclusions:
The partition coefficient of 2,2'-[Azobis (1-methylethylidene)] bis [4,5-dihydro-1H-imidazole] dihydrochloride is estimated at > -3.59 and < -3.41

Description of key information

The partition coefficient is estimated by determination of the ratio of the single solubility of the test item in n-octanol and water.

Key value for chemical safety assessment
