First-aid measures

General information:

Take care of your own personal safety.

Remove victims from hazardous area.

Take off all contaminated clothing immediately.

Keep warm, position comfortably, and cover well.

Do not leave affected persons unattended.

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media:

Suitable: Water spray, foam, CO2, dry powder.       

Unsuitable: high volume water jet       

Hazards during fire-fighting

May be released in case of fire: carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitric oxides.

Under certain fire conditions, traces of other toxic products may occur.

In case of fire cool endangered containers with water.

Protective equipment for fire-fighting:

In case of fire: full protective suit and wear a self contained respiratory apparatus

Accidental release measures

Personal precautions:

Wear personal protective equipment;

Do not breathe vapours or spray mist.

Avoid contact with the skin and the eyes.

Environmental Precautions:

Contain spillage and do not allow to contaminate soil and drains or watercourses.       

Do not allow entrance in soil, stretches of water, groundwater, drainage systems, surface water.

Methods for cleaning or taking up:

Do not flush with water.

Collect up material. Transfer into suitable containers for recovery or disposal.

Implement small quantities using neutralising solution.

Formation of methanol.

Suitable binder: absorbent for liquids, diatomaceous earth

Keep away from sources of ignition - No smoking.

Handling and storage

Advice on safe handling:

Provide sufficient ventilation and exhaust at the workplace.

Application, processing: Extraction at the emission source required.

Open the containers with caution.

In use, may form flammable/explosive vapour-air mixture.

Keep away from combustion sources such as sparks, flames and unprotected light sources

Caution - electrostatic charge may occur. Earthing of equipment.

Storage requirements:

Prevent penetration into soil, stretches of water and drainage systems.
