Description of key information

Since decanoyl chloride is an onsite intermediate according toTitle II Chapter 3 Article 17 of REACH, no testing has to be performed.

Decanoyl chloride is classified as dangerous and corrosive to skin.

Decanoyl chloride is a clear light yellow organic liquid with a pungent odour.

The melting point is below - 20°C.

The boiling point of decanoyl chloride is 231°C at 101325 Pa.

The in-house unreported density of decanoyl chloride is 0.933 g/cm³.

The calculated vapour pressure of decanoyl chloride is 7.63 Pa at 25°C.

Since decanoyl chloride reacts with water, partition coefficient, water solubility, surface tension and dissociation constant cannot be measured.

The flash point of Decanoyl Chloride is 142°C at 101.3 kPa .

The auto-ignition temperature of decanoyl chloride is 220°C.

The substance is non flammable, has no explosive nor oxidising nor self heating properties.
