Additional information

Phenyl ethyl acetate is a colourless liquid with a melting point of -31°C and a boiling point of 223.6 -239°C.

The relative density of phenyl ethyl acetate at 25°C is 1.032.

The vapour pressure of 2 -phenethyl acetate is reported to be 8.7 Pa at 20°C.

The partition coefficient n-octanol/water is log Pow = 2.4 (at 25°C).

The water solubility is 0.963 g/L (at 20 C)

The flash point of phenethyl acetate was reported to be 101°C. As 2-phenethyl acetate is a liquid with flash point higher than 60ºC, the test material is not classified as flammable according to Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008 or Directive 67/548/EEC.

The autoignition temperature of Phenyl Ethyl Acetate has been determined to be 461°C.

The substance does not contain any chemical groups associated with explosive properties. Explosive properties are associated with the presence of certain chemical groups in a molecule which can react to produce very rapid increases in temperature or pressure. When there are no chemical groups associated with explosive properties present in the molecule then a substance or mixture shall not be classified as explosive.

Examination of the chemical structure of the substance confirms that only carbon, hydrogen and oxygen atoms are present. The oxygen atom is not part of a characteristic structural group of concern for oxidising properties, and nitrogen is absent from the structure. It can be predicted that the substance does not possess oxidising properties, or contribute to the combustion of other materials.

Phenyl ethyl acetate has a viscosity of 6.0 mPa s at 20°C.

The following endpoints were waived: granulometry, surface tension, stability in organic solvents and dissociation constant.
