Description of key information
Appearance:
On the basis of visual perceptual/Olfactory property, the chemical was colorless to pale yellow colored liquid in appearance.
Freezing point:
The Freezing point determination of test item was done using crushed ice and salt. No freezing was observed up to -10.04°C. Hence, the freezing point was inferred to be less than -10.04 °C at 976.1 hPa.
Boiling point:
The boiling point determination of test item was done following OECD Guideline 103 and according to the method of Siwoloboff. The test was conducted in replicates and mean boiling point was determined to be 215.6°C at 977.7 hPa
Density:
The density of test item was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the IS 4730 : 1994 (Reaffirmed 2010) – Method for Determination of Density of Liquids (First Revision) using glass pyknometer. The mean density of test item was determined to be 1.057 g/cm³ at 20°C and 976.4 hPa.
Particle Size Distribution:
The study does not need to be conducted because the test chemical is marketed or used in a non- solid or granular form.
Vapour Pressure:
MPBPVP v1.43 was used to estimate the vapour pressure of test chemical.
Mean of Antoine & Grain methods was the estimated vapor pressure of test chemical. The estimated vapor pressure of test chemical at 25 deg C was 0.0355 mm Hg = 4.74 Pa
Partition coefficient:
The octanol water partition coefficinet Log Pow of test chemical was determined to be 3.26 dimensionless.
Water Solubility:
The water solubility determination of test item was done as per the OECD guideline 105 by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of test item in water was determined to be 238.219 mg/L at 30°C.Thus test item is considered to be moderately soluble.
Surface tension:
The surface tension of test item from ACD labs was predicted to be 34.3 ± 3.0 dyne/cm.
Flash point:
The flash point determination of test item was done following closed cup method using Pensky-Martens flash point apparatus. The test was conducted in replicates and mean flash point was determined to be 109.6°C at 977.7hPa. Based on criteria mentioned in CLP regulation the chemical has flash point >than 60 degree C hence the test item was considered to be non-flammable.
Auto flammability:
Test item did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C and atmospheric pressure of 966 hPa. This indicates that test item is not auto-flammable.
Flammability:
Test item was non flammable liquid.
Explosiveness:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties.
Oxidizing properties:
The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with oxidizing properties and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied.
pH:
The pH determination of test item was done following OECD guideline 122. pH of 1% w/v emulsion was measured with the help of pH meter and it was observed to be 3.69at 26 °C.
Viscosity:
Kinematic viscosity (experimental) of test item at 20°C and 40°C is 20.14mm²/second 14.41mm²/s, respectively.
Dynamic viscosity (calculated) of test item at 20°C and 40°C is 21.29mPa.Sand 15.23mPa.S, respectively.
Additional information
Appearance:

Other supporting study from various reliable handbooks suggests that the chemical was colorless liquid in appearance having fruity apple odour.

As the data from lab has K1 reliability and the test was performed using OECD guidelines which has the value of boiling point as 215.6 degree C , thus considered as key study for the chemical safety assessment.

The density of test item was determined following OECD Guideline 109 and according to the IS 4730 : 1994 (Reaffirmed 2010) – Method for Determination of Density of Liquids (First Revision) using glass pyknometer. The mean density of test item was determined to be1.057 g/cm³ at 20°C and 976.4 hPa.

On the basis of above octanol water partition coefficient Log Pow is in range of 3.26-3.48 dimensionless.
Water Solubility:
The water solubility determination of test item was done as per the OECD guideline 105 by spectrophotometric analytical method as per OECD 101. The solubility of test item in water was determined to be 238.219 mg/L at 30°C.Thus test item is considered to be moderately soluble.
