Description of key information

EMA is readily biodegradable, further testing is not necessary. Overall, it is concluded that EMA is rapidly biodegradable in sediments.

There are no data available for EMA or any other substances in the category of lower methacrylates.

Using the TGD defaults and applying a factor of 10 to the biodegradation rates in soil, this leads to a half-life [DT50] of 300 d (rate constant k = 0.0023 d-1at 22/25 °C) for sediments for EMA. Sediment is therefore not a target compartment (see 4.2). Overall it is concluded that EMA is rapidly biodegradable in sediments.
