Administrative data

Description of key information

Appearance / physical state / colour

On basis of various data the substance was white granular crystals with a faint, balsamic, floral odour.

Melting Point

On basis of data Melting Point of phenethyl salicylate is determined to be 44 Deg C.

Boiling Point

From the different reliable sources, boiling point of phenethyl salicylate is concluded to be greater than 300 Deg C & 370 Deg C

Density

On based of various data , the Density of phenethyl salicylate is determined to be 1.20 g/cm3 at temperature 20 Deg C.

Particle Size Distribution

The particle size distribution of Phenethyl Salicylate was determined by granulometric analysis. The particle size distribution was determined to be in the range of 150 micron to 53 micron.

Vapour Pressure

On basis of various peer studis, it is concluded that Vapour pressure of phenethyl salicylate is less than 0.13 Pa at temperature 25 deg C

Partition Coefficient

On basis of various data available it is concluded that , partition coefficient (log Pow) value of the substance 2-phenylethyl 2-hydroxybenzoate was 4.8.

Water Solubility

From the above water solubility value is 7.85mg/L, it is concluded that Phenethyl Salicylate slightly soluble in water.

Surface Tension

Based on the data from reliable sources, surface tension for Phenethyl Salicylate was predicted to be 0.0497 N/m.

Flash Point

On basis of various data available, it is concluded that Flash point of phenethyl salicylate greater than 110 Deg C.

Auto Flammability

Test chemical did not catch fire on being exposed to air at room temperature of 27°C pressure of 962 hPa. This indicates that the test chemical is not auto-flammable.

Flammability

Test chemical does not indicate any ignition when the flame of bunsen burner having temperature of approximately 950°C is brought in contact with it. Thus it can be concluded that test chemical is not flammable.

Explosives

The study does not need to be conducted because there are no chemical groups present in the molecule which are associated with explosive properties

Oxisidising Properties

The study does not need to be conducted because the organic substance contains oxygen or halogen atoms which are chemically bonded only to carbon or hydrogen and hence, the classification procedure does not need to be applied
