Test conditions

Details on test conditions:
Orange seedlings, 2 inches in height, were planted in soil which was exposed to 2.5, 25, 250 and 1000 ppm methacrylic acid (three replicates of each concentration, three controls). The soil was immediately watered. The soil had been adjusted to 100 ppm inorganic nitrogen. After growing for about 5 months, the plants were harvested and dried at 60 °C for 2 days. The weights of the tops and roots were then recorded to determine the effects of the various concentrations on growth.

2.5, 25, 250 and 1000 ppm

Results and discussion

Details on results:
A concentration of 1000 ppm Methacrylic acid was lethal toward orange seedlings.
