Test

Melting/Freezing temperature

1

< –100°C

2

< –100°C

Mean value:

< –100°C, < 173 K

Approximate accuracy of the instrument: ± 0.5 K (up to 600K).

The DSC diagrams show no melting- / freezing temperature above –100°C. For details see attachments 1 and 2.

Conclusions:
A melting point value of <-100.0°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance in accordance with a relevant test method and in compliance with a known quality system (ISO 9001:2008). The result is considered to be reliable.

Description of key information

Melting point/freezing point: <-100°C (OECD 102)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Melting / freezing point at 101 325 Pa:
-100 °C

Additional information

A melting point value of <-100°C at 1013 hPa was determined for the substance using a differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) method in accordance with OECD Test Guideline 102 and in compliance with a known quality system (ISO 9001:2008). The result is considered to be reliable and is selected as key study.

The key study is supported by melting point values of -77°C and -82.5°C which were reported for the submission substance in collections of reliable data or handbooks which have been subject to peer-review and in which the original data sources are traceable.

In available secondary sources to which reliability could not be assigned, melting point values of <0°C, -77, -77.5°C and -82.2°C were reported for the substance.

The results are all in agreement that the melting point of the submission substance is <-20°C.
