The Governance, Strategy and Relations Unit supports the Management Board, the Executive Director, and the management team in governing the Agency. It enables the management bodies to exercise their leadership functions, ensure governance, formulate strategic priorities, and put them into action. The unit keeps the management system aligned with ECHA’s organisational context, reflecting best practice among EU agencies, and helping ECHA to meet its legal obligations and the expectations of its stakeholders.

The Legal Affairs Unit provides legal advice and support on all issues that have legal implications to ensure that ECHA's decisions, opinions, positions and agreements as well as assistance to companies conform with the regulations that govern the Agency and its work. It handles litigation, complaints and disputes and provides legal advice and drafting on legislative changes.
