ECHA/NR/18/13
The committee adopted six opinions supporting the approval of two active substances for use in disinfectants. It also concluded on one application for Union authorisation.
Helsinki, 9 March 2018 - The Biocidal Products Committee (BPC) supported the approval of the following active substances:
- salicylic acid for product-types 2, 3 and 4;
- 2-phenoxyethanol for product-types 1, 2 and 4.
The BPC also supported an application for Union authorisation for:
- product families containing iodine/PVP-iodine used for teat disinfection of milk-producing animals in veterinary hygiene (product-type 3).
The European Commission together with the EU Member States will take the final decision on the approval of the active substances and on the Union authorisation of biocidal products.
The approval of an active substance is granted for a defined number of years, not exceeding 10 years.
The committee met from 6 to 7 March 2018. The opinions will be available on ECHA’s website in the near future. The next meeting will be held at the end of April 2018.
