ECHA emphasises that it remains the responsibility of the Registrant to ensure that the specific scope and possible limitations of the test guidelines are respected, and that the test guidelines are used correctly and can be applied to the specific registered substance, in regard of the physical-chemical characteristics and other properties of the substance to be tested. It remains also the responsibility of the Registrant to ensure that data from test methods not referred to in Article 13(3) of the REACH Regulation is equivalent to data generated by such test methods (see Annex XI, Sections 1.1.1. and 1.1.2. of the REACH Regulation).

ECHA points out that the "Guidance on information requirements and chemical safety assessment", published by ECHA,(http://echa.europa.eu/guidance-documents/guidance-on-information-requirements-and-chemical-safety-assessment) may cover some of the test methods, which are addressed at this site. In those cases, the instruction given by the Guidance remains valid.
