Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

According to the result of the key study Methoxyacetic acid is readily biodegradable in this OECD 301A/EU C.4-A test. Degradation of the test substance was 98 % after 10 days if a test concentration of 48 mg/L (equivalent to 20 mg/L DOC) is used.

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
readily biodegradable

Additional information

In a DOC Die-Away test Methoxyacetic acid was tested using a concentration of 48 mg/L (corresponding to a 20 mg/L DOC) in test medium following OECD 301A and EU-Guideline C.4 -A. Effluent from a sewage treatmnat plant was used as inoculum (conc. 30 mL effluent/L). Anniline was used as positive control. Degradation after 10 days was 94 %. The

test was terminated after 10 days as biodegradation for the test substance was 98 %. Therefore Methoxyacetic-acid is readily biodegradable following OECD 301A.
