Description of key information
The study was performed according to OECD 210 and met the validity criteria:
The 36-day chronic toxicity test of Reaction mass of 2-methylbutyl acetate and pentyl acetate to early life stages of zebrafish (Danio rerio) revealed a statistically significant decrease in fish survival from end of swim-up (day 6) until the end of exposure (day 36) and in overall survival in the test groups 4 and 5 in comparison to the control. Measured test item concentrations were 0 (Control), 0.11, 0.26, 0.42, 1.05, 2.43 mg/L based on PEAK 1 measurements and corresponding to mean measured concentrations of 0 (Control), 0.07, 0.19, 0.43, 0.75, 2.03 mg/L based on PEAK 2 measurements. No statistically significant decrease in hatching success, time to start or end of hatching, survival from hatch until the end of swim-up and time to swim-up were observed.
The NOEC for overall survival was 0.42 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 0.43 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2. The LOEC for overall survival was 1.05 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 0.75 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2. The EC10 for overall survival was 0.663 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 0.478 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2.
The NOEC for growth (length) was 1.05 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 0.75 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2. The LOEC for growth (length) was 2.43 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 2.03 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2. The EC10 for growth (length) was 2.510 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 2.081 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2.
The NOEC for growth (weight) was 1.05 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 0.75 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2. The LOEC for growth (weight) was 2.43 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 2.03 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2. The EC10 for growth (weight) was 1.645 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 1.094 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2.

No statistically significant decrease in hatching success (i.e. embryo survival until end of hatch) was observed for any treatment group in comparison to the control group, with hatching starting on study day 2 and ending on study day 6.
No statistically significant decrease in survival from hatch until the end of swim up was observed for any treatment group in comparison to the control group.
A statistically significant decrease in fish survival from end of swim-up (study day 6) until the end of exposure (study day 36) was observed in the test groups 4 and 5. Overall survival was statistically significantly decreased in the treatment groups 4 and 5 as well.
The NOEC for overall survival was 0.42 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 0.43 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2. The LOEC for overall survival was 1.05 mg/L based on mean measured concentrations of PEAK 1 and 0.75 mg/L as the mean measured concentrations of PEAK 2.
The results in this study are consistent with all validity criteria and the test is valid according to the guidelines of this study. All water quality and environmental parameters monitored were within the required ranges. No deviations from test guidelines or other incidents occurred during the course of the reported test which may have influenced the results.
