Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: In case product dust is released:
Possible discomfort: cough, sneezing.
Take affected persons out into the fresh air.
Notes to physician:
Specific therapy/antidote treatment: none known
After absorbing larger amounts of substance:
Acceleration of the gastro-intestinal tract.
Administration of activated charcoal.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Possible discomfort is due to foreign substance effect.
Rinse thoroughly with plenty of water keeping eyelid open.
In case of persistent discomfort: Consult an
ophthalmologist.
Emergency measure - Skin: After contact with skin, wash immediately with plenty of
water. If skin irritation persists, call a physician.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: If swallowed, rinse mouth with water (only if the person is
conscious).
After absorbing larger amounts of substance: obtain medical
attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: All extinguishing substances suitable
Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, nitrogen oxides
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: In the event of fire, wear self-contained breathing
apparatus.
Water mist may be used to cool closed containers.
Fire residues should be disposed of in accordance with the
regulations.
Water used to extinguish fire should not enter drainage
systems, soil or stretches of water.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Avoid dust formation.
Wear personal protective equipment.
Keep unauthorised persons away.
Do not allow the product into the following compartments:
soil, drainage systems, stretches of water
Sweep up or vacuum spillage and collect in suitable
container for disposal.
Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with the
regulations.
Waste to be packed like clean product and to be marked.
Identification label on packages not to be removed until
recycling.
Observe regulations on prevention of water pollution
(collect, dam up, cover up).
Handling and storage
Handling: The personal protective equipment used must meet the
requirements of directive 89/686/EEC and
amendments (CE certification).
Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety
practice. If there is the possibility of skin/eye contact
the indicated hand/eye/body protection should be used.
Avoid dust formation.
No particular measures required if used correctly.
Ensure there are sufficient retaining facilities for water
used to extinguish fire.
Hygiene measures:
No eating, drinking, smoking, or snuffing tobacco at work.
Wash hands before breaks and at the end of workday.
Change contaminated clothing.
Avoid contact with skin and eyes.
Preventive skin protection.
Respiratory protection:
If dust and airborne particulates occurs: Dust mask with P2
particle filter.
Hand protection:
Glove material: butyl rubber for example: Butoject 898,
Kächele-Cama Latex GmbH (KCl), Germany
Material thickness: 0,7 mm
Method: DIN EN 374
Skin and body protection:
If dust occurs: disposable protective suit, chemical
protective suit.
When handling larger quantities: chemical protective suit,
disposable protective suit.
Eye protection:
goggles
Engineering measures:
Ensure suitable suction/aeration at the work place and with
operational machinery.
Caution - electrostatic charge may occur.
Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
Earthing of equipment.
Storage: Keep in a dry, cool place.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 125 l Fibre Drums with 2 PE-Inliners (50 kg)

Exposure controls / personal protection
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: No dangerous reactions are known to occur with correct
handling and storage.
Chemical reaction with water: None reaction
Dust explosion: Avoid dust formation.
Caution - electrostatic charge may occur.
Take precautionary measures against static discharges.
Earthing of equipment.
Further information: VDI 2263 "Dust fires and dust
explosions; dangers, evaluation, preventive measures."

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Because the substance is used as an intermediate for
pharmaceutical active ingredients,
residues or spilled substance are not allowed to be
collected and reused.
Spilled substances or residues have to be absorbed and given
to combustion.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Unknown
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Controlled disposal through combustion possible and
recommended.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not relevant (the substance is not sold to the public at
large).
