The study was performed in order to determine the boiling point of test item according to OECD 103, resp. EU A.2 guideline, using the capillary method (Siwoloboff).
The test item started boiling at 287.9 °C (561.0 K) at normal pressure (101.325 kPa).
Reference
The determination of the boiling point was performed by visual judgement using the capillary.
At about 285 °C in the preliminary tests, the number of air bubbles increased. To confirm the result obtained in the preliminary tests, the determination of the boiling point was performed three times, heating quickly up to 270 °C and afterwards slowly using a heating rate of 0.5 °C/min.
A clear normal boiling point, as defined in the guideline with a current stream of bubbles evolving from the capillary, was observed at a heating temperature of 287.9 °C (561.0 K) at 101.325 kPa.
