Justification for classification or non-classification
SKin sensitisation:
The skin sensitization potential of 'glycerides C16-18 and C18-unsatd., deodorizer distillates' can be based on information available for its individual constituents. Studies conducted on glycerides, fatty acids and the various components of unsaponifiable matter (e.g. tocopherols, sterols, sterol esters and squalene) suggest that these are not likely to cause sensitization in animals or humans.
Exposure via the inhalation route is not expected given the low vapour pressure of the substance and the risk management measures implemented where necessaryif the substance is handled in aerosolized or spray form.
Based on the above information, glycerides C16-18 and C18-unsatd., deodorizer distillates is not considered to require classification for sensitization according to Directive 67/548 EC or Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008.
Respiratory sensitisation:
Under environmental conditions, exposure to 'glycerides, C16-18 and C18 unsatd., deodorizer distillates' via the inhalation route is limited given its low vapour pressure (2.34-5 mm Hg at 25°C) and non-homogenous liquid to semi-solid form. Thus, respiratory tract sensitisation is not expected to pose an issue for human health and no further testing was conducted, in accordance with Annex XI (1.1) of the REACH regulation.
