Referenceopen allclose all
The solubility in water at 20 °C is reported to be 24 % by weight. This corresponds to a water solubility of 240 g/L at 20 °C.
Description of key information
Following an analogue read-across approach the water solubility was determined to be 240 g/L at 20 °C.
Key value for chemical safety assessment
- Water solubility:
- 240 g/L
- at the temperature of:
- 20 °C
Additional information
The test item is a mixture of methanol and methyl acetate. No study was available for the water solubility of the mixture, but for the single components methanol and methyl acetate. Therefore, an analogue read-across approach was used.
Methanol is reported to be completely soluble in water at 20 °C.
The water solubility of methyl acetate is reported to be 240 g/L at 20 °C.
Both values are taken from peer reviewed handbooks and so can be considered as reliable. Based on an analogue read-across approach the lowest water solubility of the two components was regarded as worst case. Consequently, a water solubility of 240 g/L at 20 °C was chosen as key value for further chemical safety assessment purposes.Information on Registered Substances comes from registration dossiers which have been assigned a registration number.
