Water solubility
- Water solubility:
- 0.002 mg/L
- Temp.:
- 20 °C
- pH:
- 7.3 - 7.6
- Details on results:
- The detector calibration was found to be linear over the range 0 to 0.01 mg/L of standard solutions in methanol:water (1:1 v/v) with a regression coefficient of 0.9998 (Table 1).
Table 2 presents a summary of the results of the test and shows that the water solubility of 3,3-(4,4-biphenylenedioxy)dianiline is 0.0017 ± 0.0002 mg/l.
A mean recovery ((analysed concentration/nominal concentration) x 100%) of approximately 80% of 3,3-(4,4-biphenylenedioxy)dianiline from fortified control samples was achieved and deemed to be acceptable given the low solubility level.
No significant interfering peaks were evident in blank control solutions.

Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- Interpretation of results (migrated information): insoluble (< 0.1 mg/L)
The test substance 3,3-(4,4-biphenylenedioxy)dianiline was found to have a water solubility of 0.002 mg/L at 20 °C. - Executive summary:
The solubility in water of 3,3-(4,4-biphenylenedioxy)dianiline was tested in the column elution method according to EU Method A6. The charged column was connected to a HPLC and purified water was added to the solvent reservoir.
The detector calibration was found to be linear over the range of 0 to 0.01 mg/L of standard solution in methanol:water (1:1 v/v). The overall mean water solubility of 3,3-(4,4-biphenylenedioxy)dianiline determined from the two sets was determined to be 0.002 mg/L at 20 °C and a pH value of approximately 7.5.
