Description of key information
Appearance/physical state/colour
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) is a white solid.
Melting point / Freezing point
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) started to decompose or react at about 240 °C (513 K) using a heating rate of 10 K/min.
Boiling point
The study does not need to be conducted because the substance is a solid which decomposes before boiling.
Density
The density of the test substance was determined to be 0.956 g/cm3 at 20 +/- 1 °C using a gas comparison pycnometer.
Particle size distribution
In accordance with column 2 Annex VII section 7.14 of Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006 (REACH), the study does not need to be conducted as the substance is marketed or used in a non solid or granular form.
Vapour pressure
In conclusion, the vapour pressure of the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) was estimated to be < 8 E-08 Pa at 25 °C based on the boiling point calculated and using the Modified Watson Correlation. From this result, it can be concluded that the vapour pressure of the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) is too low to have any relevant effect on the environment.
Partition coefficient
In conclusion, the partition coefficients of the 3 components of the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) were estimated to be in the log Pow range from -3.1 to 18 by calculation using the Leo-Hansch method.
Water solubility
The flask method was used for the performance of the main solubility test. The water solubility of the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) was estimated to be 411 mg DOC/L +/- 20 standard deviation at 20 °C ± 0.5 °C.
Surface tension
The surface tension of an aqueous solution of the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) at 90 % of the saturation concentration was determined to be 68 mN/m at 20 °C ± 0.5 °C. Based on the criteria as outlined in the guidelines, it was concluded that the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) should not be regarded as a surface active material.
Flash point
The study does not need to be conducted because the flash point is only relevant to liquids and low melting point solids.
Auto flammability
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) determined to be not auto-flammable with a test according to EU A.16.
Flammability
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) was determined not highly flammable. The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) is not flammable in contact with water and shows no pyrophoric properties.
Pyrophoric solids
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) is no known to be stable in contact with air at room temperature for prolonged periods of time (days) and hence, it can be concluded that it is no pyrophoric solid.
Aerosol
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) is not known to become an aerosol.
Pyrophoric liquids/ Flammable gases
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) is a solid.
Substance which in contact with water emits flammable gases
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) is known to not react with water due to experience in production or handling.
Self-heating
In accordacne with Annex XI of REACH and the ECHA Guidance on the Application of the CLP Criteria (Version 4.1), the test for self-heating substances was waived. According to Article 5 of Regulation (EC) 1272/2008 (CLP) the information shall relate to the forms or physical states in which the substance is placed on the market and in which it can reasonably be expected to be used. The substance is produced in situ into basic oils forming a stable grease. The substance is never isolated, stored or transported in an isolated form. The phenomenon of self-heating applies only to solids, as surface of liquids is not large enough for reaction with air and the test method is not applicable to liquids. Thus, the test on self-heating properties for the substance in its forms, in which the substance is placed on the market, is not applicable and classification procedure does not need to be applied.
Explosiveness
From the structural formula of the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) it can be concluded that the test substance is not explosive.
Oxidising Properties
From the structural formula it can be concluded that the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) has no oxidizing properties.
Self –reactive substances
From the structural formula it can be concluded that the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) has no explosive or self-reactive properties.
Organic peroxides
From the structural formula it can be concluded that the test substance (EC: 433-100-1) does not fall under the definition of organic peroxides according to GHS and the relevant UN Manual of tests and criteria.
Corrosive to metals
The test substance (EC: 433-100-1) is a solid and there is no established suitable test method for solid substances.
