First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: Remove from exposure and keep patient at rest. Seek medical
attention.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Irrigate thoroughly with cold clean water for at least 15
minutes. Seek immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected areas with copious volumes of water. If an
irritation develops seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Wash out mouth with water and give water to drink. Do not
induce vomiting. Seek medical attention.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Foam, water spray, dry powder or carbon dioxide.
Product arising from burning: Toxic fumes of nitrogen, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide and
halogen-containing gases

Protective equipment: Self-contained breathing equipment must be worn by
firefighters.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: In the event of a large spillage wear an air suit, rubber
gloves and wellington boots. Carefully scoop up the material
and place in a sealable drum, wipe up residual powder with a
damp cloth and include this in the drum before sealing.
Small spillages may be tackled wearing laboratory coats,
safety glasses and rubber gloves, and if necessary a
suitable respirator to P3 protection or equivalent. Collect
the material and place in a suitable container. Wipe up
residual traces with a damp cloth and include this for
disposal, finally seal the container. The area may be
finally washed down with water providing no significant
residues remain.
Handling and storage
Handling: In production facilities, a full air suit or PVC chemical
suit and half air suit, PVC gauntlet type, nitrile gloves
and wellington boots should be worn. The material should be
handled within closed containers wherever possible. Minor
contamination of protective equipment should be hosed with
water before removal.
In laboratory areas, laboratory coats and nitrile or latex
gloves should be considered minimum protection All
operations involving open containers should be performed in
a fume hood. If this is impracticable, a dust mask to P3
protection or equivalent must be worn.
Storage: Store up to 50 kg (generally 25kg)in UN approved
polyethylene lined fibreboard kegs in a cool, dry, well
ventilated area.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: Up to 25 kg polyethylene-lined UN approved fibre board kegs,
fitted with lever ring closure device for security.

Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Recovery of the material is technically possible but would
necessitate very stringent control. Any residual material
contained in mother liquors are incinerated off site in
accordance with local regulations.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: The substance is non-volatile and unreactive. No simple
chemical treatment is envisaged which will render the
substance harmless.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: The process generates no products suitable for landfill
disposal. All waste/residue goes for incineration off site.
Discharge of aqueous waste to non-industrial outlets is not
anticipated and does not occur.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Incineration is the method of disposal for this substance.
This will normally involve dilute solutions in a flammable
organic solvent. Flue gas treatment for acidic gases is
indicated.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Aqueous reaction streams diluted with sufficient volumes of
water are rendered harmless within the site waste water
treatment facility.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: Not investigated.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable as the substance will not enter the public
domain.
