Sodium hydride is a strong base which reacts nearly spontaneously when exposed to water forming sodium hydroxide. Thus available data for sodium hydroxide should be acceptable instead of conducting new studies. Sufficient data exist and have been used in establishing an occupation exposure limit for sodium hydroxide. These data are relied upon in the human health risk assessment.
