Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Additional information

The substance hydrolyses very rapidly (half-life 2.2 minutes at pH 7 and 22.5°C) and therefore has a low potential for bioaccumulation. The end product of hydrolysis at low concentrations is methylsilanetriol. This species has a low log Kow(-2.4). The expected intermediate hydrolysis products also have log Kow <3 (see Section 1.3 of the CSR). Therefore, in accordance with Column 2 of REACH Annex IX, the bioaccumulation in aquatic species study does not need to be conducted. At higher concentrations, polymeric species may form and these have low potential for bioaccumulation.
