Additional information

According to REACh regulation EG Nr. 1907/2006 Annex IX Column 2, 9.3.2 the study does not to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumualtion (Log Kow < 3). This requirement is met by the test item with a log Kow of -2.28.

The same holds true for the components melamine (log Kow = -1.22) and cyanuric acid (log Kow = 0.61).

For melamine, three experimental determinations of the bioconcentration factor BCF in 3 species of fish were reported confirming very low bioaccumulation potential (BCF < 3.8).

Additionally, the bioaccumulative properties of the degradation substances have been investigated. As they clearly meet the criteria of Annex IX, Column 2, 9.3.2 “the study does not to be conducted if the substance has a low potential for bioaccumualtion (Log Kow < 3)” with log Pow values ranging from -3.65 to -1.22, the studies do not need to be conducted. And the degradation substances do not meet the criteria for bioaccumulation.
