Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Skin sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)
Additional information:

Results from a GLP, OECD 429 guideline mouse local lymph node assay (Woolhiser et al., 2003) found no stimulation of lymphocyte proliferation in auricular lymph nodes from mice treated with up to 80% 1,2-dichloropropane, demonstrating that the substance is not a sensitizer under the conditions of this test. This lack of allergic potential in the mouse is consistent with structural considerations which provide no evidence of chemical alerts (reactive groups) that would indicate a potential to act as a sensitizer.

Respiratory sensitisation

Endpoint conclusion
Endpoint conclusion:
no adverse effect observed (not sensitising)

Justification for classification or non-classification

Based on the results of testing reported 1,2-dichloropropane has not been classified as skin sensitizer.
