- Decomposition:

Any other information on results incl. tables
DSC EXPERIMENT 1
During cooling: no effects. During heating: small effect between -90°C and -75°C followed by endothermic effect starting at 200°C. The small effect was most likely due the glass transition.
After the experiment, a light yellow molten residue remained in the sample container (original colour: dark amber) and a yellow residue was observed on the lid of the sample container. Due to the colour change, the endothermic effect was considered reaction and/or decomposition. DSC curve: see illustration below.
DSC EXPERIMENT 2
In order to investigate the small effect between -90°C and -75°C, the temperature was isothermal for 60 minutes at -90°C. During heating at 5°C/minute glass transition was observed between -90°C and -75°C with the inflection point at -79.008°C. After the experiment, the residue in the sample container was unchanged. DSC curve: see illustration below.
DSC EXPERIMENT 3
Experiment 3 is a duplicate of Experiment 2 and similar results were obtained. The inflection point was -79.157°C. DSC curve: see illustration below.
RESULT
Glass transition temperature: mean inflection point of Experiment 2 (-79.008°C) and Experiment 3 (-79.157°C).
Applicant's summary and conclusion
- Conclusions:
- A glass transition temperature of -79.1°C was determined. The substance has no melting/freezing temperature between 25°C and -90°C.
- Executive summary:
Differential Scanning Calorimetry was performed. The experiments were based on EC A.1, OECD 102 and OPPTS 830.7200 (melting temperature) and on EC A.2, OECD TG 103 and OPPTS 830.722 (boiling temperature). GLP-study. The viscous substance has no melting/freezing temperature between 25°C and -90°C. The mean (n=2) glass transition temperature was determined to be -79.1°C.
Boiling of the substance was not observed below the temperature at which reaction and/or decomposition started (i.e. at 200°C).
