First-aid measures

Description of first aid measures

Remove contaminated clothing.

If inhaled:

Keep patient calm, remove to fresh air.

On skin contact:

Wash thoroughly with soap and water.

On contact with eyes:

Wash affected eyes for at least 15 minutes under running water with eyelids held open.

On ingestion:

Rinse mouth and then drink plenty of water.

Most important symptoms and effects, both acute and delayed

Symptoms: No significant symptoms are expected due to the non-classification of the product.

Indication of any immediate medical attention and special treatment needed

Treatment: Symptomatic treatment (decontamination, vital functions).

Fire-fighting measures

Extinguishing media

Suitable extinguishing media: dry powder, foam

Unsuitable extinguishing media for safety reasons: carbon dioxide

Special hazards arising from the substance or mixture

harmful vapours, nitrogen oxides, carbon oxides, chlorine compounds

Evolution of fumes/fog. The substances/groups of substances mentioned can be released in case of fire.

Advice for fire-fighters

Special protective equipment:

Wear a self-contained breathing apparatus.

Further information:

The degree of risk is governed by the burning substance and the fire conditions. Contaminated extinguishing water must be disposed of in accordance with official regulations.

Accidental release measures

Methods and material for containment and cleaning up

For small amounts: Pick up with suitable appliance and dispose of.

For large amounts: Contain with dust binding material and dispose of.

Dispose of absorbed material in accordance with regulations.

Handling and storage

Precautions for safe handling

Breathing must be protected when large quantities are decanted without local exhaust ventilation.

Protection against fire and explosion:

Avoid dust formation. Take precautionary measures against static discharges.

Conditions for safe storage, including any incompatibilities

Suitable materials for containers: Stainless steel 1.4301 (V2), Stainless steel 1.4306 (V2A)

Exposure controls / personal protection

Components with occupational exposure limits: No occupational exposure limits known.

Exposure controls

Personal protective equipment

Respiratory protection:

Suitable respiratory protection for higher concentrations or long-term effect: Particle filter with low efficiency for solid particles (e.g. EN 143 or 149, Type P1or FFP1)

Eye protection:

Safety glasses with side-shields (frame goggles) (e.g. EN 166)

Body protection

Body protection must be chosen depending on activity and possible exposure, e.g. apron, protecting boots, chemical-protection suit (according to EN 14605 in case of splashes or EN ISO 13982 in case of dust).

General safety and hygiene measures

Wearing of closed work clothing is recommended. No eating, drinking, smoking or tobacco use at the place of work. Handle in accordance with good industrial hygiene and safety practice.

Stability and reactivity

Reactivity

Corrosion to metals:

Corrosive effects to metal are not anticipated.

Formation of flammable gases:       Remarks:       Forms no flammable gases in the presence of water.

Chemical stability

The product is stable if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Possibility of hazardous reactions

In spite of the dedusting carried out for reasons of industrial health a dust explosion hazard can not be excluded.

Incompatible materials

Substances to avoid:

None known during use and storage if used according to instructions.

Hazardous decomposition products

No hazardous decomposition products if stored and handled as prescribed/indicated.

Disposal considerations

Waste treatment methods

Must be disposed of or incinerated in accordance with local regulations.

Contaminated packaging:

Uncontaminated packaging can be re-used.

Packs that cannot be cleaned should be disposed of in the same manner as the contents.
