Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

Key study: OECD 209. GLP study: Based on the read-across approach, the 3h-EC50 for laevo bornyl acetate in activated sludge was determined to > 50 mg/L (basis for effect: respiration inhibition rate)

Key value for chemical safety assessment

EC50 for microorganisms:
50 mg/L

Additional information

Key study: Read-across approach from experimental data on the analogue dextro alpha fenchyl acetate:

The study of activated sludge respiration inhibition was carried with the analogue substance dextro alpha fenchyl acetate according with OECD Guideline 209. The inhibition of three different oxygen uptakes was determined, total, heterotrophic only and due to nitrification. 3.5 g/L suspended solid of inoculum were exposed up to 50 mg/L test item for 3 hours. The results of blank and reference controls (3,5 -dichlorophenol) were found to lie in the ranges allowed by the validity criteria. Based on the respiration inhibition rate, the 3h-EC50 was expected to be greater than the highest tested concentration 50.0 mg/L. Taking into account these results, the read-across approach was applied and the 3h-EC50 for laevo bornyl acetate was determined to be > 50 mg/L.
