Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.
The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information
Key study similar to OECD 401 (KEY_401_1977_HUNTINGTON_LONZA Report No 0315): 850 mg/kg bw (rat)
Supporting study similar to OECD 401 (NONKEY_401_1974_HOECHST_1974.0200) LD50: 1154 mg/kg bw (rat)
Supporting study following no guideline (NONKEY_401_1973_Consultox_LONZA Report No 0313): >2500 mg/kg bw (rat, range finding study)
Key value for chemical safety assessment
Acute toxicity: via oral route
Endpoint conclusion
- Dose descriptor:
- LD50
- Value:
- 850 mg/kg bw
Additional information
Testing for acute oral toxicity following a protocol similar to OECD standard method revealed an LD50 of 850 mg/kg bw for male and female rats. Another study, similar to OECD standard method, revealed an LD50 value of 1154 mg/kg bw for female rats and did not show a higher sensitivity for males in a pretest. The lower value of 850 mg/kg bw, representing the most sensitive response, was identified to be suitable for classification purpose. Findings of another not OECD conform range finder study (LD50: > 2500 mg/kg bw.) are considered not to be inconsistent with this conclusion.
Justification for classification or non-classification
The derived LD50 value of 850 mg/kg bw meets criteria for classification as Xn, R22 or Acute toxicity - Oral, Cat 4, H302.
