Please be aware that this old REACH registration data factsheet is no longer maintained; it remains frozen as of 19th May 2023.

The new ECHA CHEM database has been released by ECHA, and it now contains all REACH registration data. There are more details on the transition of ECHA's published data to ECHA CHEM here.

Description of key information

NTO is not readily biodegradable

Key value for chemical safety assessment

Biodegradation in water:
under test conditions no biodegradation observed

Additional information

Determination of percent (%) biodegradation of NTO has been performed according to AnalyCen Ecotox's Standard Operating Procedure Lab IIA - 3.1 (AnalyCen Ecotox, 2002) which is based on OECD guideline 306 for testing of chemicals: "Biodegradability in Seawater" Closed Bottle Test (OECD, 1992)

The ready biodegradability of NTO was also determined using the computer program EPISUITE, based on ultimate survey model (Biowin3) and MITI linear model (Biowin5). Based on the study and the the Biowin calculation the test substance is not readily biodegradable.
