First-aid measures

Emergency measure - Inhalation: Move exposed person to fresh air. In case of indisposition
seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Rinse with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes. If
irritation occurs, seek medical advice.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash skin with soap and water.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Rinse mouth and drink plenty of water. Symptomatic
treatment. In case of indisposition seek medical advice.

Fire-fighting measures

Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, dry powder, foam, carbon dioxide.
Product arising from burning: Combustion products may contain carbon and nitrogen oxydes as well as hydrobromic acid and other derivatives.
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Wear self-contained breathing apparatus and protective
clothing.

Accidental release measures

Emergency measures in case of spillage: Wear protective clothing (dust mask, safety goggles and impermeable gloves).
Solids: Sweep up (wet powders with water) and place in suitable containers for disposal.
Liquids: Absorb using an adequate absorbent (eg. kiesel- gur, sand, saw dust, kieselgel), collect and place in suitable containers for disposal.
Dispose of waste material in authorised incineration facility.

Handling and storage

Handling: Observe the usual precautions for handling chemicals. If the substance is handled as powder, avoid inhalation of dust and wear dust mask. Use equipment for handling powders or other appropriate engineering controls. Avoid eye and skin contact and wear safety goggles and impermeable gloves.
Take precautionary measures against static charges and keep away from ignition sources.
Storage: The substance should be stored in well sealed and secure containers in adequate rooms at room temperature.
Avoid residues outside the containers.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: The substance is supplied in aluminium laminated bags in drums of 50 kg.

Exposure controls / personal protection

Exposure controls
Appropriate engineering controls
Provide adequate mechanical ventilation.
Individual protection measures:
Eyes:Wear safety goggles in accordance with EN166. Eye protection equipment should be tested and approved according to regulations applicable, like NIOSH (US) or EN 166 (EU).
Respiratory:In cases when the risk assessment shows the need to use respiratory protection it must be evaluated the type of respirator to use. If engineering controls are effective use a particle filter N100 (US) or P3 (EU). If the respiratory protection is the only mean of preventing exposure use a positive pressure hood tested and approved by NIOSH (US) or CEN (EU).
Hands: Wear chemical protective gloves that are in accordance with EN 374.
Skin: Wear chemical protective clothing with anti-static properties. The selection of the type of material should be in accordance with the potential concentration of the product.
Hygiene measures After handling the material, follow the good hygiene practices, especially before eating, drinking, smoking or going to the toilet. Wash contaminates clothing before reuse.

Stability and reactivity

Danger other than fire: Not known.
Chemical reaction with water: No dangerous reaction with water.
Dust explosion: Not to be expected if handled under good industrial hygiene practices.
Dust explosion determined by test: N

Disposal considerations

Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: The substance will be quantitatively used in further
chemical reactions. Therefore, recovery/recycling of the substance is not possible.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not suitable for deposit in landfill site.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Code 661: Incinerator with flue gas scrubbing.
Incinerate waste in a furnace or use lawful industrial waste disposal service. Comply with all federal, state and local
regulations.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Code 641: Removal by controlled discharge to a waste water treatment plant.
It is estimated that < 0.1% of the total quantity used is discharged into internal industrial effluents as highly diluted solution. A purification of the waste water in a waste water treatment plant is recommended.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - other: None.

Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable.

Public at large - Possibility of destruction - others: Not applicable.
