Administrative data
First-aid measures
Emergency measure - Inhalation: If signs/ symptoms occur, remove person to fresh air. If
signs/ symptoms continue, call a physician.
Emergency measure - Eyes: Immediately flush eyes with copious quantities of water. Get
immediate medical attention.
Emergency measure - Skin: Wash affected areas with soap and copious quantities of
water. Seek medical attention.
Emergency measure - Ingestion: Call a physician immediately. Do not induce vomiting unless
otherwise directed by medical personnel.
Fire-fighting measures
Recommended extinguishing agent: Water, Carbon dioxide, dry chemical and dry powder
Product arising from burning: Carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, hydrogen fluoride,
perfluoroisobutylene
Product determined by test: N
Protective equipment: Wear full protective clothing, including helmet,
self-contained positive pressure or pressure demand
breathing apparatus, bunker coats and pants, bands around
arms, waists and legs, face mask, and protective covering
for exposed areas of the head.
Accidental release measures
Emergency measures in case of spillage: Provide exhaust ventilation for large spills, or in confined
spaces. Collect spilled material with an absorbent material.
Clean up residue with an appropriate organic solvent. Place
in an approved container. Ventilate area.
Handling and storage
Handling: Wear vented goggles and appropriate impermeable gloves. Use
with appropriate local exhaust ventilation. Where local
exhaust ventilation is not adequate use a NIOSH approved
respirator.
Storage: Test substance is contained within metal drums of volume 5,
30 or 55 U.S. gallons.
Containers should be stored at room temperature and not on
their sides.
Packaging of the substance and or preparation: 5 gallon metal pail
30 gallon metal drum
55 gallon metal drum

Exposure controls / personal protection
Stability and reactivity
Danger other than fire: Avoid strong bases
Chemical reaction with water: Not water reactive
Dust explosion: Not applicable as test substance is a liquid.
Dust explosion determined by test: N
Disposal considerations
Industry - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Approximately 75% can be repurified by distillation.
Industry - Possibility of neutralisation: Not readily reactive at room temperature. Soluble/ miscible
with solvents such as 1,2-trans-dichloroethylene and
acetone.
Industry - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not recommended
Industry - Possibility of destruction - incineration: This is the method of choice. Incinerate in facilities
equipped to handle hydrogen fluoride byproduct, in the
presence of combustible products.
Industry - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not recommended as test substance is water insoluble.
Public at large - Possibility of recovery/recycling: Test substance is not intended for use by the public at
large.
Public at large - Possibility of neutralisation: Not applicable
Public at large - Possibility of destruction: controlled discharge: Not applicable
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - incineration: Not applicable
Public at large - Possibility of destruction - water purification: Not applicable
